 Horseback Riding

Exquisite Equestrians educates riders 8 to 80 years old in basic equitation, which includes the art of horsemanship and horseback riding theory.

Age appropriate lessons in this program are geared to cultivate and enhance quiet communication and confidence in the rider.

 Horsemanship and Husbandry

Not sure about horseback riding, yet? Learn how to work with a horse on the ground. Warm up to our gentle giants by performing basic duties like feeding, haltering, grooming, and leading a horse. Get a better understanding of how they think and how you fit into the role of being their leader. Ponied rides are available.

School Field Trips

We also provide quality K-12 North Carolina state standards-based supplementary lessons, which integrates horses and the farm environment into fun and engaging opportunities for cementing grade level required skills.

 What We Offer

Riding and Husbandry Lessons

Beginner riding and husbandry lessons are available Tuesdays through Saturdays in one-hour blocks.  Each lesson includes reasonable and reachable goals to build confidence, as well as interaction with the horses to cultivate and foster communication, responsibility, and respect.

Learning is
accomplished through fun "horsey" and barn activities in the saddle and on the ground.

Academic Lessons

From the moment your students step off the school bus and onto the green pastures of Hodges Farm, they will enter a learning environment where practical and real-world situations require knowledge and skills in subjects including science, math, and economics.

Whether for homeschool, mainstream, or special education classes, your customizable academic lesson will be designed to fit your class or group's curriculum schedule and will address your grade level's state standards. Your visit can also include a combination of available activities such as facility tours, hay rides, and ponied horseback rides.

Groups of at least 5 students with accompanying adults are welcome to schedule a 2-hour, 3-hour, or 4-hour visit. Summertime hours are also available.

Just want to tour or have an event at the farm? Agritourism visits and event activities are also available to school, family, and corporate groups. Visit the Hodges Family Farm website for details.
