About the Instructor |
Dawnuel (Dawn) Henry is the equitation instructor with a background in both elementary education and equine studies. A recent transplant from California, she holds a BA in Liberal Studies from California State
University in Northridge, as well as a teaching credential, and has served as an elementary educator for 5 years. She also holds an AA degree in Liberal Studies from Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, where she completed 3 years of coursework in equine studies focusing on natural horsemanship, horse husbandry, and horseback riding. Though she's been riding since she was 2 years old, Dawn continues to pursue her education in "everything equine" by working with various breeds from miniature horses to Saddlebreds. From her perspective as a teacher, she believes it's crucial to have a well-developed knowledge of the basics of equine nature in order to remain safe and maintain mutual respect between horses and those | of us who love them. |
Now at the local, state, and nationally recognized Hodges Family Farm, she joins the heir and owner, James "Frank" Hodges, in providing a fun, safe and educational opportunity for students 8 years old and up who love and want to ride horses. |
