About the Instructor

Dawnuel (Dawn) Henry is the equitation instructor with a background in both elementary education and equine studies. A recent transplant from California, she holds a BA in Liberal Studies from California State

University in Northridge, as well as a teaching credential, and has served as an elementary educator for 5 years. She also holds an AA degree in Liberal Studies from Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, where she completed 3 years of coursework in equine studies focusing on natural horsemanship, horse husbandry, and horseback riding.  Though she's been riding since she was 2 years old, Dawn continues to pursue her education in "everything equine" by working with various breeds from miniature horses to Saddlebreds.

From her perspective as a teacher, she believes it's crucial to have a well-developed knowledge of the basics of equine nature in order to remain safe and  maintain mutual respect  between horses and those

who love them.

Now at the local, state, and nationally recognized Hodges Family Farm, she joins the heir and owner, James "Frank" Hodges, in providing a fun, safe and educational opportunity for students 8 years old and up who love and want to ride horses.
